When I opened my first Child Care center in 2003, I had a vision to own multiple locations. In fact, I carried that vision for eleven years and while waiting for the vision to become a reality, that first location taught me how to manage multiple locations. Furthermore, while I prepared for multiple locations, I went through 11 years of trials and tribulations and I looked for other buildings as God was preparing me for the business growth that was ahead of me. Moreover, I can remember looking for buildings and going to banks applying for loans so that I can open a second location and for 11 years, I was running into lots of closed doors. Today, I thank God for those closed doors, because those closed doors, were not what God had in store for me. In fact, I have discovered that when you run into closed doors, that is God’s way of saying, “That’s not for you!” After 11 years of being in my first Child Care Center, the business began to decline. In fact, I began to wonder what was going on. I was a faithful tither, I was marketing the business, we had a quality childcare program, however, we didn’t have very many children enrolled. In August 2014, a friend of mine, texted me and told me about a building that was vacant and for lease. So, I decided to stop by the building. When I pulled up to the building, I knew in my spirit that was my dream location. After pulling up on the parking lot and getting out of my car, I walked up to the front door and I laid hands on the door; then I decreed and declared this: This building will be the next home of Learning Days. Making a declaration over the building, activated my Faith, however I had one problem! I didn’t have the money, all I had was Big Faith. In this book, I will share with you, how my Faith in God empowered me to Grow my Business, How to get through hard times by faith, The importance of Growing as a leader, How to encourage your team to grow and I will share strategies that I used to manage two locations. Moreover, I will share how following the dream in your heart will move you out of your comfort zone. Moving to Atlanta has been on my Vision board for 5 years. On October 5, 2018, that vision became a reality. The first week that I lived in Atlanta was so uncomfortable for me. I didn't realize how emotional I would be being away from my kids, my parents and my Grandchildren. In fact, the move caused me to have some major anxiety. There were days that I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. Then I reminded my self that this was my Dream, Ive always wanted to expand my Business and if I move back to St.Louis, I would only be going back, because I didn't want to be outside of my comfort zone. As I Prayed about what was really causing me anxiety along with calling on My prayer partners, I realized that I was allowing fear to take over and not my Faith. Furthermore, I have been reminded that Fear will cause you to want to go back to your comfort zone or go back to what feels familiar to you. However, I want to inspire you to keep moving Forward by Faith and Live your Dreams despite of the Fear that you Feel. When you feel uncomfortable about a Business Decision, ask yourself the following questions: 1. Why am I uncomfortable? 2. What is it that I am not embracing? Your answers to the questions above will inspire you to keep moving Forward by Faith! As I sat in Church today, this blog post came to my spirit. In fact, the words "Live Your Dream" has been in my spirit for several months now. In 2003, I had a dream to turn my Child Care Business into a chain of facilities. Back in 2003, I was new to operating a Child Care Center, but the dream was still in my spirit. Before my dream could become a reality, I had learn how to effectively operate a Child Care Center. After 11 years of failing forward, I found my Dream location in 2014 and two years later I opened my second location. When I took over my second location, I realized that sometimes it takes years for your dream to become a reality. Also, there must be a time of preparation. Please allow me to share my story with you: In 2013, My husband and I took a trip to Atlanta Georgia. As we pulled into the city, I let my car window down and I said to my husband, Do you feel that? He said, Feel what? I said, Success!! Success is in the air here and I want to do business here. We were in Atlanta for 5 days and I enjoyed every moment. While we were there, we drove through neighborhoods that we wanted to live in. Once I got back to St. Louis, I shared with my family that someday I was going to move and do Business in Atlanta. In fact, the thought of moving to Atlanta was on my hear for 5 years! I kept procrastinating and finding reasons to not move; until a tragedy hit my life. In January 2018, My Mom called me and told me that my sister (Jenean) was in a Ambulance and they were doing CPR on her. I froze and I couldn't say anything. As I got dressed to pick my mom up, I felt like I was moving in slow motion. Once I picked up my mom and we got to the hospital, we were told that my sister was still receiving CPR. We prayed as a family and we believed God that she would recover. A chaplain called us all in a room and told us that my sister went into Cardiac arrest and they couldn't figure out why. I was in awe at how fast life can take turn for the worst. My sister was in the hospital for 7 days and on the 7th day, she was pronounced Brain dead. When the doctor took her off of life support, I looked at Her and I realized how quick life can be over. Then I thought, I still have dreams in me that I need to see become a reality before I leave this earth. So, I said to my sister, Jenean, I'm going to go to Atlanta sis and I know that you will be with me in spirit. Before Jenean passed away, we talked about moving to Atlanta and she told me that she was going with me. Since my sister's passing, I have been working on expanding my Business into the Atlanta Area and in a couple of months, I plan to relocate into Atlanta to keep moving in the Direction of my Dreams. I wrote this blog post to say this, Now is the time to live your dreams . Furthermore, I believe that sometimes, we find reasons to stay in our comfort zone and make excuses for why we are stuck. However, once life on this earth is over, its over. So, I want to encourage you to work on living your dreams now. Don't wait to tragedy hits your life to wake you up, Move into the Direction of your dream now. I once heard motivational speaker Les Brown say: The Grave yard is full of buried dreams. Don't die with your Dreams on the inside of You! I know that it is easier said than done and I have found that it takes Big Faith to Live your Dreams. Several weeks before writing this blog post; I had a garage sale at my home. My goal was to get rid of some old clothes, shoes, purses and household items. Moreover, one of the items that I had for sale at my garage sale was my book, Doing business by Faith. While at my Garage sale, one of my neighbors was browsing through the items that I had for sale and she saw my book (Doing Business by Faith) and she ask me the following question: What is Doing Business by faith? I answered her question and I decided to write a blog post about it. Doing Business By Faith simply means to Do Business in a Realm that you cannot see touch or feel and Doing Business by Faith is made up of 3 principles: Hope- I believe that every business owner has hope that their Business will be a Success. In fact, it is vital to your Business Success that you are in a constant state of hope, because a lack of hope will eventually kill your dream. Moreover, I believe that hope is what keeps your Vision alive! Trust-Do you trust that you will succeed? Do you trust that God will provide you with what you need for the Vision? Trust is a Big part of building a relationship as well as building a Business. In fact, it takes a ton of Faith to Trust that what you desire for your business will soon become a reality. So, I challenge you to relax, trust God and trust yourself! Confidence- Do you have confidence in yourself? Do you have the confidence that God has called you to start or operate a Business? I believe that a confident Business Owner can accomplish anything that he or she sets his heart to do. So, hold your head up, stick your chest out and be confident in your goals and dreams. Finally, I believe that doing Business by Faith is simply moving forward even when you don't feel like it and never giving up on your Business goals and Dreams!
